‘Deep Water’ is part of a series of abstract drawings, mainly of landscapes that are about free drawing and about the quality of the surface and intensity of the colour.
I’m not sure if this is above the water or below it. If it’s below, the light penetrates the surface, if above, the light bounces off the surface. I find deep water frightening so this picture always sends shivers down my back. And at the same time it has a mysterious quality that draws me in in a positive way.
I really love this series because they are so direct and crisp. I mask the edge to frame the image on the paper (it’s A6 on an A4 paper) which gives it more of a print* quality than a drawing. I hope you like them too.
